“Auction for an Angel “ is only 10 days away and the response from the community has been absolutely amazing. The Charity night being run in conjunction with SIDS and Kids and Bairnsdale Sunrise Rotary is attempting to raise much needed funds for the “Cooper Trewin Memorial SUDC Research Fund” which is supporting SIDS and Kids to fund advocacy and Australian research into the cause of sudden and unexplained death in children.

There is currently no research in Australia and this Auction night held in the memory of Cooper will raise money to start a university research grant into the sudden and unexplained death in children. “If we can prevent another family from having to go through this tragedy then all of the time and effort will have been worth it” said Robert Trewin who is one of the organisers who lost his son Cooper to SUDC in February of this year aged 16 months. “To have no answers as to why our healthy baby boy just did not wake up is a terrible thing to live with” said Robert “We appreciate the community support and the people attending will be in for a very special evening”

Auction for an Angel is to be held on the 27th November at Nagle College at 6.30pm. Tickets need to be purchased from Robert Trewin Mortgage Broking in the Main Street of Bairnsdale and will be limited to 500. There is currently still approximately 30 tickets left so if you would like to attend the evening you may need to be quick. The evening will consist of a meal, live auction, guest speakers, silent auction, raffles, entertainment from the local band Ms Agro and a highlight will be a song written and performed by Phoebe Hutchinson called “Coopers Song” which has already been considered to be included in an up and coming mini series currently being filmed in Melbourne.

We have included in the paper today a list that shows a selection of the auction items that will be available to be purchased on the evening. There is some amazing items and also some very unique opportunities to purchase items that would never be available anywhere else. Eftpos facilities will be available on the night for the winning bidders and the Raffle will present a great opportunity to win some wonderful prizes as well.

The organisers of Auction for an Angel have been able to get an amazing amount of support with basically everything for the evening being donated and supplied which will result in the majority of ticket sales going straight into the Cooper Trewin Memorial Research Fund. This outcome shows the heart of our local community in getting behind and supporting such a worthwhile cause.
