National Mortgage Brokers (nMB) held a conference in Melbourne in February in which Robert who is a nMB mortgage broker conducted a speech to the 150+ audience on the past 12 months, what has been achieved so far and what still needs to happen. Robert also auctioned 2 items to raise money for the Cooper Trewin Memorial SUDC Research Fund with the help of David James who was the MC for the evening.

Robert gave a compelling talk on his life and how it was changed in an instant when he found Cooper who was his first and only son passed away in his sleep on the 6th February 2011. The message was simple in the fact that you should never take anything for granted, the amazing love and support he has received from so many people which included National Mortgage Brokers in particular Gerald Foley, Kon Avramidis and Sal Cinque and how he and Kylie aim to keep Coopers name and memory alive in an attempt to save another family from this tragedy.

“There was not a dry eye in the whole room and I do not know where Robert gets the courage from to stand up in front of so many people and tell his story” Gerald Foley Managing Director National Mortgage Brokers. ” We had envelopes on the tables for the Chinese new year and I asked if everybody could make a small donation of which nMB would match which raised $4500″ Gerald said

“We also had an anonymous donation of $2,500 which was amazing and a true reflection of how touching this tragedy is”

“We also auctioned off 2 prizes that had been donated which included a Melbourne Hearts Guernsey donated by John Karipidis which raised $1,500 and 2 nights accommodation at Cape Shank donated by Brett McKay which raised $2,000.” Gerald said

“The total amount raised on the night was $10,500 which is all going to the Cooper Trewin Memorial SUDC Research Fund and National Mortgage Brokers look forward to working with Rob and Kylie in the future to raise further funds in memory of Cooper” Gerald said
