Auction for an Angel was held on a Saturday night 27/11/2010  in Bairnsdale at Nagle College and had over 460 guests in attendance and was an amazing evening filled with laughs, tears and compassion that had many people dig deep and purchase auction items and or raffle tickets to help raise an amazing amount of funds.

The evening could not have asked to be a bigger or better success with everything coming together perfectly. The evening was hosted by Master of Ceromonies Floyd Nangreave who did a fantastic job bringing humour to an otherwise somber occassion. We heard from SIDS and Kids CEO Leanne Raven who gave a run down on what SUDC is and what they hope to achieve with the partnership between them and the Cooper Trewin Memorial SUDC Research Fund. Phoebe Hutchison performed “Cooper’s Song” that was written by Phoebe, Kylie and Robert which can be heard on this web site. Kylie and Rob showed a DVD outlining Coopers Corner with video footage of Cooper growing up which not only bought many tears but also a laugh given he was such a cheeky little boy.

A highlight of the evening was the meals that were catered and supplied at no cost from Stuart Derham Main Hotel, Washer and Family from Hendo’s Cafe and Jacquie Banson from Heritage Cafe followed by dessert from Coopers cousin Anusha Galbally.

This was followed by a live Auction hosted by Mark Gibbs and King and Heath that managed to raise $29,700 alone and a Silent Auction that had 75 items available also managed to raise a further $23,780.

Highlights of the main Auction had to be the determination of Dane Coleman as he kept bidding on the ARB car fridge eventually paying $2,400 and Kylie Trewin not missing out on a massive teddy bear donated by Aromatherapy Heaven Scent for $1,800 that she wanted as a memory of the occassion.

The Raffle had some amazing prizes and raised $5,539 and we had entertainment from Ms Agro in between.

Thank you must begin with the committee that helped make this happen who worked tirelessly and was mostly made up of the Rotary Club of Bairnsdale Sunrise members as well as Ben Parker and Denise Fallon.

James Yeates and sons who have been amazing supporters of the event with nothing being too much trouble and everything donated.

The Rotary Club of Bairnsdale Sunrise who all helped set up and pack up on the Sunday.

Patties Foods who helped out significantly with Auction prizes, food and also purchased items on the night.

Coles & Safeway who were absolutely amazing in their generosity.

Payless Promotions with Coopers Aunty Emma supplying some amazing merchandise and stubby holders.
